About us

Our Mission, Vision & Values

Our mission statement informs that we desire to “bring redemption to culture through character transformation and intellectual development.”

Such a vision embraces not only the intellect but also the physical, emotional, moral and spiritual dimensions of each student, staff member, parent and volunteer who makes up the fabric of our school community.

While the knowledge and skills that are developed through the learning process are recognized as precious in themselves, they find their most profound meaning in God’s plan for each person in the human family.

Academic

Westside Academy includes students from Kindergarten through Grade 12. We are a certified Group 1 Independent School and comply with all BC Ministry of Education requirements. Students who graduate from Westside Academy receive a Transcript of Grades from the BC Ministry of Education.

The procedure for applying to Westside Academy is as follows:

  1. Call or email the office to inquire and provide us with your name and contact information as well as your child’s name and date of birth.
  2. If space is available for the grade level(s) you are inquiring about, we will call you for an interview.
  3. The continuing enrolment process for all current students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 the first week of February and closes the first Friday in March.

At Westside Academy, we will use a curriculum based on literacy and numeracy foundations, essential learning, and core competencies and social interactions as a medium to do an honest evaluation of self both intellectually and character-wise recognizing that these are intelligence necessary to succeed in the 21st century. Each additional building block of learning provides more opportunity and advantage moving forward.

We desire to both identify strengths, calling and gifting as well as allow for growth and development in all areas of life. In this way, we will walk out the goals of our mission and reach the world through the overflow of Christ in us.

The B.C. Certificate of Graduation or “Dogwood Diploma” is awarded to students who successfully complete the provincial graduation requirements. All students enrolled in a BC school on or after July 1, 2018 are considered to be on the BC Graduation Program (2018).

The School Completion (“Evergreen”) Certificate recognizes the achievement of personal goals and allows students to celebrate the completion of their educational journey along with those in the graduating class. The Evergreen Certificate is intended to celebrate success in learning that is not recognized in a Certificate of Graduation (Dogwood Diploma).

Our School Community is a Family

We recognize the incredible value of the family unit for each student. The family, school and church work in partnership to provide a learning environment where Christian values support the personal growth of the whole person.

Stewardship of resources and socially responsible actions are encouraged as natural outcomes of active learning by each member of each family in the school community.
